Client Proofs

PRIVATE CLIENTS: My private clients and their family and friends can access and review digital proofs online. After your photo session, and when your proofs are ready for viewing, you will receive an email from me with your password to see your gallery of images and order prints on-line. Please note that your final high-resolution images will have no copyright marks. On-line images are low-resolution proofs only. Final prints will be color-corrected and optimized for the highest possible quality. Not all monitors have the same specifications. The color in the images you see below may differ slightly from the actual prints you receive.

Your photos will be stored in a password-protected online gallery for 3 months. You can order a variety of prints and merchandise from your images. Your family, friends and anyone else who you share your password with can also order prints and merchandise from your images. I save your images in a back up file on my computer for 6 months. Locate your name and click on the Protected Gallery image. Then enter the password that I provided you and click on the Submit button. One of the common reasons why clients are unable to get their password to work is because of unnecessary spaces before or after the password that they enter. Please make sure that you are not adding a space because it does count as a character when they are entered.

Graylag (Barnyard) Geese : The Greylag Goose is the wild ancestor of barnyard geese, originally bred in central Europe, and the basis for almost all European goose folklore. The name “greylag" derives from its grey coloration and the fact that it undertakes late migrations, or “lags" behind other geese. Males swim in a haughty posture to attract the female, and mating is often preceded by mutual head-dipping. The Graylag is the largest and bulkiest of the grey Anser geese. It has a rotund, bulky body, a thick and long neck, and a large head and bill. It has pink legs and feet, and an orange or pink bill. Males are generally larger than females. The plumage of the Graylag Goose is greyish-brown, with a darker head and paler belly with variable black spots. Its plumage is patterned by the pale fringes of its feathers. It has a white line bordering its upper flanks. Its coverts are lightly colored, contrasting with its darker flight feathers. It has a loud cackling call, HOOOOOONK, like the domestic goose.

Great Horned Owls : Breeding season (January or February) the owls will normally raise between 2-4 young called owlets. The two to three young hatch in late February and early March. By April the young are mobile climbing up and down tree branches but are incapable of flight. Adults will feed the young on the ground after they leave the nest. In mid-May they are able to fly and start hunting but still have much of their down feathers. When Great Horned Owl eggs hatch, the downy owlets are the size of newborn chickens. Their mother broods them day and night. A few weeks later, the owlets can be left alone while both adults resume hunting at twilight. Great Horned Owl young remain in the nest for about six weeks, and then climb out onto nearby branches. They begin taking short flights at seven weeks, and can fly well at 9-10 weeks. Great Horned Owls are about the size of a grown-up cat - they are 22 inches tall. The mother owl is very protective of her young. The owlets will start flying in 7 to 10 weeks after they are born. Young hatch at 28 to 35 days and remain in the nest vicinity for 10 to 12 weeks. It is believed that great horned owls mates for life or are monogamous. In the wild that could mean a pair could stay together for 15-20 years. The eggs are white with small bluish tinted spots. It is about thirty to thirty-five days before the eggs hatch. Upon hatching, owl chicks are blind and have a thin coat of natal down. In 1-2 weeks, a heavier second coat of down appears, called the mesoptile. As early as 3-4 weeks, some species' chicks may leave the nest and clamber about Female owls, like many other birds, develop a sparsely feathered area on their bellies called a brood patch. The almost bare skin has a higher density of blood vessels than other parts of the skin, providing a direct source of warmth when in contact with the eggs. In tree nesting species, these chicks are called Branchers. The next stage of development will be fledging, or learning to fly. In Great Horned Owls, this is 9-10 weeks after hatching, Fledglings are usually cared for by the parents for a short time before leaving to fend for themselves. Owl chicks hatch with the aid of an Egg Tooth - a unique protrusion on the beak, common to all birds, which drops off a week or two after hatching. Because eggs are laid over a period of several days, the hatching is also staggered. This means that there is always a gradation in the size of the chicks in the nest, the larger and more active individuals invariably getting more food from the parents than their smaller, weaker siblings. As a result, it is rare for all the chicks that hatch from a clutch to survive, except of course when food is plentiful. In most seasons the youngest chicks starve, or are sometimes even killed by their brothers or sisters. This seemingly brutal approach to the rearing of young has in fact positive survival advantages for the family as a whole: it ensures that, whatever the food availability, some offspring will always survive and produce further offspring. If all the young were fed equally there would be a chance that all might starve in years of poor food supply. The food is delivered as many as 10 times a day to the nest by the male. Larger prey items are ripped apart and fed to the chicks piece by piece. Smaller prey can be swallowed whole by the chicks as they get older. Young owls begin producing pellets as soon as they begin eating whole prey, or prey parts with fur, bones and other indigestible parts. Killdeers : The Killdeer is the only North American plover with 2-neck-rings. Eats mostly insects. Killdeers display a predator-distracting "broken-wing display," in which they appear to be injured and run along the ground dragging their wing, leading a potential predator away from the nest or chicks. White-breasted Nuthatchs : A common feeder bird with clean black, gray, and white markings, White-breasted Nuthatches are active, agile little birds with an appetite for insects and large, meaty seeds.
