Killdeers

The Killdeer is the only North American plover with 2-neck-rings. Eats mostly insects. Killdeers display a predator-distracting "broken-wing display," in which they appear to be injured and run along the ground dragging their wing, leading a potential predator away from the nest or chicks. It's calls are loud and insistent: see, deedeedee, kill-DEEAR, and a rolling chatter.
